Pony Xpress 2024

I went down to Trinidad again this year to race the Pony Xpress 85k. The night before we had gotten some rain and snow, so the on the drive down I was getting worried about the race conditions. Thankfully, it turned out to be a very nice day down in Trinidad for a gravel race.

Long story short, I ended up in the second group on the road today. I finished fifth overall and won my age group for the second consecutive year at the Pony Xpress!

Tucson Training Camp, Day 5

Today was the last day for me in Tucson. Most people left today, but a few of us decided to stick around a little longer and have a nice ride around the Oro Valley neighborhood. With this being my last day, I've also included a few other group pictures of the trip. I definitely had a great time riding my bike in Tucson in February. It won't be my last time!

Tucson Training Camp, Day 4

Today was all about Mount Lemmon. The ride started off really well and I had set a really good pace for myself on the first half of the climb. Near the top I managed to hit a sharp rock in the road and it tore the sidewall of the old tires I had brought for the trip. I tried to patch it and boot it, but the other tube popped a few minutes later. We had a SAG vehicle for just the occasion, but for some reason he decided to drive ahead to the top, leaving me to stand by the road for almost two hours waiting for him to come back down. There wasn't any way I was going to descend on that tire. I did get a spare wheel for the descent, so I was thankful but also a little bit annoyed since the two hours was unnecessary. Not too mention we chose to do this route on a Sunday and holiday weekend, so there were cars nonstop on the route despite my pictures suggesting otherwise. I'll have to go back sometime and rode the entire ascent and on a less busy day!

Tucson Training Camp, Day 3

Today was sort of like halftime for the training camp for me, so I decided to take a shorter day and ride a few times around the loop in Saguaro National Park. The loop itself reminded me a little bit of riding around Garden of Gods, but obviously with very different scenery. This was ride was more about going slow, stopping often, and taking a lot of pictures.
