Here's a video of Julia in her new bed. She was very excited...but more importantly, made sure that Bunny (a.k.a. "B") was tucked in for the night and well covered.

Julia's New Bed
We have the cutest, smartest daughter in the whole world.
After work today we picked up Julia's new bed from Jason and Carly. Seeing how Julia is soon going to be 22 months old we figured it was about time for her to graduate to a toddler bed. Thankfully, Jason and Carly were selling Lily's bed that also happens to perfectly match the rest of Julia's room and that is the same size at the crib (sheets, blankets, etc).
Stacey had been telling Jules that she was getting a new bed this afternoon. When I got home from work we showed it to her in the back of my truck and I could tell that she was excited. We left her on the main floor while we carried the bed upstairs. We had to stop and stand the bed up and turn it a few times and when the bed hit the top of the stairs I had to stop to turn it. A few seconds later I felt someone grab my ankle. Julia had climbed up the stairs to see her new bed.
She was really excited. No sooner had we set the bed down in her room from moving it up then she climbed up in it and laid down. I'm not exaggerating - we literally set it down in the middle of the room and she was immediately in the bed, on the bare mattress, with nothing but her diaper on, saying "nigh-night"! In fact, she started to ask for "B" (Bunny) and her blanket, the two things she sleeps with, shortly after laying down in the bed. Keep in mind that this was entirely without any prompting.
Julia also repeatedly said "my bed" and "new bed" while in it, clearing indicating she knew what was going on. We pulled her out, made up the bed, and took these pictures. Of course, the one with Stacey in the bed is because Julia wanted her to go "nigh-night" too.
I pulled her out of bed and brushed her teeth. We said good night to mommy and set out on our normal bedtime routine. Usually, I set Julia down at the door and she runs over to the humidifier, turns it on, and then runs to me in the chair where we cuddle before I put her to bed. Not this time. Oh, she ran over to the humidifier alright - but after turning it on she immediately crawled into her new bed. Feeling a little bit short-changed, I walked over to her bed and gave her a kiss, hoping to talk a little bit to make up for the lost father-daughter time. Not tonight. All I got was a smile and a "Dada bye-bye". After clearly being told to leave, I got up and walked out of the room trying not to laugh.

One Liners
I'm sitting here all alone tonight while Stacey is out with her Mommies group...and since I'm being bored to death by football I decided to turn my thoughts towards blogging.
- What's worse then finding a worm in your Happy Apple? Finding half a worm. Luckily, I found the whole thing.
- Right now I'm 2-0 in our Fantasy Football league at work and at the top of the table.
- The high is supposed to be 46, 47, and 47 degrees the next 3 days. Since not many trees have changed color yet, I'm going to be really annoyed if this kills everything and we don't have a fall this year.
- For the second week in a row, Tottenham got steamrolled by one of the top 2 teams in the league. Still, I'd take a 4-2 record at this point in the season if you'd would have offered it to me (considering we've played 3 of the "top 4").
- We totally relaxed in the "luscious" (don't ask) grass under our massive tree in the front yard this afternoon. It was perfect in the shade and fun to enjoy the fruits of our labor.
- I played Frisbee with Jules today. Well, she didn't throw it back but liked it when I threw it to her in the driveway.
- Speaking of Julia, she has got to be the cutest, sweetest, and smartest kid I've ever met at this age...and I'm speaking objectively.
- The dentist has been wanting to realign my bite and make me a night guard. After insurance, $1500. I bought a 99 cent mouth guard at Walmart and it's doing the trick. I don't clench or grind my teeth at night anymore and am rested when I wake up. What should I do with the other $1499?
- I got in more cuddle time with Julia this morning from 4:15 - 4:45. Luckily, we both went back to sleep.
- Been thinking a lot lately. I believe that a lot of the challenges people in my generation are facing in their personal lives are due to the simple fact that they've been selfish. The 'me-culture' reveals itself in interesting ways - ways you wouldn't know unless you really thought about it.
- The idea of home schooling came up this weekend.
- I watched X-Men Origins: Wolverine on Friday night. It was good. It was extra good since I watched it at Lanny's house while Stacey entertained 10 other women at our house.
- Saturday night I'm headed to the Rockies game with 10 other guys from our "Sunday School" class. Should be a good time.
- Remember what you were doing at the end of June? From then until now is the same amount of time from now until Christmas.
Well, it's getting past my bedtime. Adios mustachios.

Garage Monkey
Julia's latest hobby is pretending like she's driving my truck while blaring the radio. Lately she's also been dancing a lot while "driving" or even while she is riding in her car seat beside me (while I'm actually driving).
Make sure the volume is up and pay attention to the beginning of the video when he pretends to honk the horn. Also, watch how she stops dancing and then busts a move when the song really kicks in. Hilarious. Also, at one point she realizes I'm taping her and gets embarrassed.
Somehow, I don't see things being much different between now and when she gets her driver's license...

Happy Apple Farm
On Saturday we made our annual pilgrimage to Happy Apple Farm. We picked some apples, played in the pumpkin patch, collected rocks (Jules only), rode behind the tractor 3 times, collected more rocks (Jules only), and left with apples, apple cider, and roasted green chiles.
Julia helped herself to an apple and would have sat on the trailer behind the tractor all day if we would have let her.

Summer Projects Complete!
I know I've been blogging a lot this summer about all of the landscaping projects that I've been doing. However, it's taken a lot of effort, time, and money so naturally it's been a big part of my summer (and thus blog).
For those of you who don't care this post is good news. I'm finally done with the front of the house (not counting one minor thing that I'll just do next summer when we finish the backyard). So, you won't have to read any more of these posts for awhile. I'm glad too.
Last weekend (Labor Day) I finished painting the fence in the backyard, planted another Autumn Blaze Maple tree, and replaced the 2 shrubs I lost due to all the water we got this year. I planted the new tree in the wettest spot alongside the driveway and the spot with the rock drain (previous post). Eventually it should give us some shade and privacy and break up the view of large north face of our house seen from the street. Years from now the roots are going to tear up the driveway, but I don't mind. Having a large tree there is going to be worth it.
This weekend I finished the last thing on my list: the exterior lights. For some reason the builder had installed purplish-maroon light fixtures on many of the houses on our block. After a few years of sun it has turned to a nice shade of faded pink-red. Ugly. With two $7 bottles of Rustoleum I completely changed the way they look. I probably saved about $100 by painting them instead of buying new fixtures.
I feel like I'm flipping this house...to myself.
