Victoria Inner Harbour

Monday afternoon we all headed down to the Victoria Inner Harbour (that's harbor for you Americans). This is the area where the ferry dropped us off. The harbor (I'm back to the American spelling), not surprisingly, is where downtown Victoria begins.

The most obvious and beautiful attraction is The Empress - one of the most famous icons of Victoria. The hotel sits right on the waterfront and is literally covered in flowers and ivy. Part of the ivy is already turning red in color.

The Empress is located on Government Street, kitty corner to the British Columbia Parliament Building. If you are clueless about provincial capitals, Victoria is the capital of British Columbia. The government building, harbor, and The Empress are all beautiful...meaning the area is filled with tourists.

Julia enjoyed the stroll and sights, especially after scoring an ice cold Orange Julius equivalent from one of the street vendors. The area is a must see even if just for a few hours. The flowers and greenery are gorgeous in Victoria. We'll see the crown jewel on Wednesday when we visit the world-famous Butchart Gardens.
